IMO~ I think it would be great to take along and I think it would be big enough for a 5 1/2 pounds yorkie. (It comes with a zip-up top)and comes with a carrying case. Easy set-up too~and it folds out with no assembly. Like a pop up tent.
It's certainly bigger than a crate and they get use to it because it is larger and they can see through the sides. I don't like a crate, but I sure like this.
