I paid $1500 for Sadie and $1200 for Ben. I had been on a waiting list for a while before I got Sadie and while waiting got to know the breeder. I decided I wanted to start my own breeding program, with her encouragement, a lot of study and preparation. In fact, she helped me find Ben. They really complimented each other. Unfortunately I lost Sadie after she had this litter of puppies I am now raising. I am very unsure if I still want to pursue breeding. I want to but I just don't know if I could ever put another momma at risk after becoming so attached. I did learn a lesson just as you have -- listen to your heart, follow your instincts, if something feels wrong, it probably is.
I look at it this way -- if we were meant to get into breeding, it will all work out eventually. Maybe this was not the time for either of us.
