He was just neutered on Friday, and when I picked him up I could smell it but thought it was due to the surgery. But today as he was sitting on my lap.. he did it again. It is coming from the booty.. that bad part, is I can not give him a bath now. Not until he heals.. has any one else experienced this smell. Please advise. I will ask his Vet on Friday when he goes back.
Do make sure, first and foremost, that the smell is not coming from the wound - I doubt it is, but just wanted to mention it since the smell is post-surgical (sorta). It could be the glands, esp. if he is constipated - is he? Is he drinking enough water? The meds given for surgeries can really slow down the digestive system. For now, you can clean his little butt w/ baby wipes - and if the area looks irritated - put some cortisone cream or diaper cream on the area. If he is not pooping, you could give some canned pumpkin to help - but if he's been consitpated for awhile, then you should call the vet.
