i didnt realize how possesive toby was over stuff that was "his", until we brought mina into the mix (our cat) he DID NOT want her near anything that was "his", such as his crate, his mommy, his bowl, his water dish his toys, but for some reason it is ok for him to chew her toys to shreds
I would get another crate for your new baby to avoid any conflict
