Not sure about everyone else, but I do keep mine using a pad as well. This way I don't have to worry if I am out for a longer period of time. We also boat a lot and this alleviates having to go to shore all the time. Maggie will still do what your baby does. We'll go for a long walk and she'll run around and play and then come in and potty her pad.
It's really hit or miss for us.
