I know you are speaking out of concern and I appreciate you posting, but this was a one-time thing and I do normally feed her a very high quality food. Your post seems a bit harsh, but I guess that is okay since you are probably assuming that she eats like this regularly.
Meg had (not has) diarrhea once after she ate the food, and she's been eating normally enough since with no throwing up, no yellow poop, no distention in the stomach, etc. I don't think that eating such a small portion of ham once - we're literally talking about a few small bite sized pieces - is enough to throw her into the serious stages of pancreatitis, but of course I will keep an eye on her. She has a vet appt on Friday to get her Rabies shot, so I might ask them to run blood work then just to see where she is at. What sort of blood work should I ask them to do? If I am not very specific and direct with my vet, she won't do the tests I need.
Oh, and before you go off on yelling at me to get a new vet, I'll let you know that there is ONE English-speaking vet in my area of Korea, so I have to work with what I have. |
If the diarrhea has stopped, the vet isn't going to do anything. You can run the Spec cPL if you want to check for pancreatitis, but since she is better, it may very well be a waste of money. Unfortunately, a few bite size pieces of certain foods (fatty ham included) can trigger pancreatitis. I'm sure most of us have done something similar though. I know I have. Whats done is done. Don't worry about it.
