Jackson is going to drive me NUTS with this! I swear - Jackson is the perfect dog in every way except these few. He's very obedient, does tricks when I ask, (most of the time) listens when called, walks well on a leash, not a huge barker, etc. He's 6 months old.
The problem...
I live at my mom's house w/ my stepdad, their dog and sister. I'm in college still. He's a great sleeper over here. Will sleep from 10 or 11pm-8am in my bed. Sometimes my moms dog is in my room, sometimes not, either way, he's fine.
But I often visit with my dad, stepmom, brother and their dog 45 minutes away. Jackson has been going there since I brought him home at 9 weeks old for days at a time very often. Two times a week usually. I will usually stay a Thurs & Fri night as well as a Sunday & Monday night. And he just will NOT sleep over there at night-time. They have 2 cats over there and he will seriously just sit by the door in my room all night, I can see his eyes closing he's so tired. He won't give up. He barks around 3am wanting to get out. It's getting veryyy annoying considering I spend alot of time over there AND the fact that he is the perfect sleeper at my mom's house.
Last night was AWFUL. I took him outside around 10pm, brought him upstairs for bed, he won't settle like normal and just immediately hops off the bed and to the door. So, I let him stay on the floor, I need sleep so I go to sleep. Around 3am, he starts barking so I'm about to get up and he goes and pisses on the floor. He KNOWS better, and NEVER does that. He went and hid under the bed. I took him outside anyways even tho he just peed thinking ok maybe he has to poop so I go downstairs, put him outside, he's out there for a while. I open the door to let him back in and he just sits there and STARES at me and will NOT come in the house. I'm like "Jackson, come." Nothing. I had treats. I go to grab him and runs from me. This is at 3am when I am NOT in the mood. He finally came inside and I picked him up and brought him back inside. I held him down for a bit in the bed, he wasn't fighting too much since he was so tired. Obviously once i fell asleep, he jumped out of my arms. He was up every hour from then on waking me up. It's like... he just doesn't want to miss anything or something. But it's getting frustrating.
He's been introduced to both cats many many times. Him & the female cat will sniff each other and be nice to each other and get along. The male cat just hisses at Jackson and runs away even when Jackson is being very calm and nice. So annoying, lol.
I think I'm just going to have to put him in a crate at night at my dads house even tho he is definitely going to whine & cry. I'm just going to have to deal because I can't have these sleepless nights of wondering WHY he's not in my bed, what hes doing in my room, barking at the door (cats out there) at 3 and 4am.
I'm mostly venting but if anyone has any tips, greatly appreciated! LOL
