That doesn't sound good if he wasnt willing to greet DH or jump off the couch. Dogs are very good at masking their pain. If it's still bothering him tomorrow, I would get him to the vet. Better to be safe than sorry!
I hope it's just a little strain and he's good as new tomorrow.
