Humping is "bad behavior" that can and should be corrected. a dog of either gender will hump you if they do not respect you. Humping is not a sexual thing.
The urge to mate is triggered by the sent of a female in heat. A male that is neutered before he reaches sexual maturity will not have the urge to mate.
I have two intact males and they do not hump anything except for the females in heat.
If your dog were to start humping on you or a stuffed toy etc. tell them NO and remove the object of their obsession.
A dog that humps things is unsure of its place in the pack because the humans are not displaying leadrship behavior therefore the dog believes that they need to take on that role.
Be a good pack leader and you will have a good dog of either gender. Be a poor pack leader and humping will not be your only problem.
My own personl opinion is that males are more affectionate and needy. If you want an independent dog, I would get a female, if you want a clingy needy dog, I would get a male.
