You've gotten some great advise I'd just add that when you give him treats for potty, make sure it's something he loves, loves, loves (like cooked chicken or meaty / chewy doggy treats) and keep these treats for only potty training or outdoor training as he wouldn't grow tired of the same old treats that way and will want more of them so he'll be willing to do what it takes (going outside) to get them.
