I have not seen the movie, however, have seen the previews. I have read the Book , which is TRUE. what i've seen in the previews, they added scenes that are not in the book. Why they botch the movie from a book always is diappointing. Yes, It is true in the book as well as the movie what happens in the end though. If you really liked the Movie, I strongly suggest you read the Book, it is amazing, and will bring up humor, sadness , and grief. But than I won't give away the ending , there is anther thing that happens
