I the reply to my comment above. But I did receive it in my email and am quoting it below (in italics) in order to be able to respond.

From Gennies:
Really, really...you think I'm talking to the OP. I'm talking to you and you know it, you're just trying to redirect this and it's not happening!

Well, this may be personal for you, but it is about the OP for me. Your response was unnecessarily critical and harsh, and for a woman who doesn't live in your country, not very material. She lives in another country, the circumstances there are different, and that has to be taken into account.

Shell820810 this is not at all directed at you! If you in anyway think that it is then I appologize very deeply!

Back to you Sweet Violet, Nope didn't miss that you were American actually said oh yeah, you left...Remember....maybe you should read it?! Oh, but nope it's gone from the thread. Wonder why.

Maybe you should slow down, actually READ what is written here, then THINK before you attack your keyboard...and me. It is in comment 12, plus at least one other poster quoted it. The fact that you didn't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. Take this as proof that you are capable of being in error.

The was your daughter a juvenile comment was in reference to Your question on her giving birth! If she's physically able, Congratulations! If she's a wild kid because you were a bad parent, then shame on you! You started that whole thing!

Um...you are the one who brought up the juvenile thing. My daughter was 25 (did you miss that too?) when she had her first and only child. You seem to think that if the woman loved her dog, she would not have bred it...I think that is oxymoronic, as one has nothing to do with the other. I referred to my daughter...who comes from a family of women who have difficult pregnancies and two generations of C-section births (back in the day when C-sections were far from routine)...as an example of the absurdity of your statement. The fact that the woman decided to breed her dog has no bearing on her emotional attachment to it. Not all breeders are heartless puppy millers.

Maybe you should look at your own posts.
I think I clarified that whole humans to dogs issue with the over population of unwanted pets topic. So I'm not wasting my time with you on that.

You clarified nothing. There are lots of unwanted children in the world, even in America, just as there are unwanted dogs. So people who do not discourage their children from having kids don't love their kids because there are lots of unwanted ones in foster homes and orphanages? That, too, is oxymoronic, whether it is applied to people or dogs.

As for the world not liking America because we push our beliefs onto them....well, don't ask for our help then! What hate us today, but beg to use us tomorrow?!"

This is very much off the topic and tangential to why I made the comment, but I'll respond anyway: I don't recall the Iraqis asking for our help...and I am old enough to remember Vietnam clearly, and I don't recall any requests for help from them at the outset, either. Nobody begged us to interfere in the affairs of another sovereign nation, we took it upon ourselves. The very idea that a superpower like America will just walk in and overthrow the government of another nation because it wants to just terrifies the people of other nations...and it outrages them. I know this because I live in another nation and I get asked all the time how we can just go and do that...and what resources does this country have that America might want enough to invade? I made the comment because you were exemplifying the reason so many people dislike us: our views are right and anything different is automatically wrong...and therefore bad. Well, that's not true...you cannot apply American views to foreign countries whether it is politics or dog breeding. You MUST take the customs and norms of that foreign country into account. It's different in other countries...American values may not apply.

Why do you continuously talk about being in another country?

Because YOU DON'T GET IT. The rest of the world is NOT like America and the OP, about whom this whole thread is related, does not live in America. I live in another country and it is DIFFERENT from America. American views and values do not always apply here...and you need to know that. They don't necessarily apply in South Africa, where I am, AND THEY DON"T NECESSARILY APPLY IN N. IRELAND, where the OP is.

If you don't like America so much, why do you come to a forum that is dominated with Americans?

Where did I say or even imply that I don't like America or Americans? Do you have any idea why I left? Maybe I am military and deployed outside the country...maybe I work for an American company and have been sent here on assignment...maybe I retired here because I can live better on my pension here (this is a democratic country, BTW...we have elections and civil rights and everything!)...maybe I married a foreigner and moved to live with him in his country. But I must say, it has been enlightening to live among foreigners and deal with their reactions to my being an American living on their soil.

Sounds like you leaving wasn't a loss for us.
I'm done responding to you as you're not worth my time.

I hope you are aware of how unnecessarily rude that is. And that you took something about another person and another topic and turned it into an attack on someone who simply has a different opinion than you. The OP lives in another country and while your opinions are worth consideration, they are not law...especially outside the US.

She lost her Yorkie tragically last month and is trying to be very conscientious in finding a new one, to not be stampeded by the pain of her loss. Her circumstances are different from yours...she lives in a small country where she may not have the breadth of resources that Americans take for granted. And the customs in that country are different from American...I know that if you asked a South African Yorkie breeder to keep the pup until 12 weeks, they would think you were crazy and probably refuse to sell you a puppy...it is a foreign country and the norms and customs are different. You don't have to like it, but it is unfair of you to apply YOUR values and beliefs to people who do not share your culture and norms, and then find them wanting. You certainly would not find it acceptable if someone from another country did the same to you.

I think the OP is going about it the right way, I think that taking a puppy at 8 to 10 weeks is better for the pup's adjustment to its new home than 12 weeks and older. That's my opinion and, like it or not, it is no less valid than your own.
