I am sorry to hear about Shelby. My yorkie that I had back in the 70's had a torn ACL and they did the surgery and did his knee at the same time since it looked bad when they went in. Zorro did well after the surgery and if I remember correctly he wasn't down for that long. I will say that even after surgery when he was standing still he would still hold that back leg up but if never seemed to bother him. I also heard that in small dogs you don't always need to have the ACL surgery. I hope the specialist can help you avoid surgery. I will keep you both in my prayers |
