Missy just went through this yesterday. She got spayed and had to have her 4 canines pulled. Her adult teeth are coming in too close to the center of her mouth since those baby teeth were in the way. They are concerned about it, and she will have to be rechecked to be sure that her teeth are moving back to where they should be.
I think the sooner you get it taken care of, the better.
