As for your baby crying, he's a little guy and he's been taken from what he has known. His little world has been changed and he just probably wants some reassurance from his new mommy. Make sure to give him lots of hugs and reassurance. He should settle down after awhile. If you are set to crate him, you need to be strong, he will cry to get out. I would not crate him for long periods of time though. And if he is a puppy, you will need to take him out at least every 2 hours (I would do it every hour with him being 11 weeks old) for potty break as well as just a break.

As for following you around, that is just what they do! They love to be with their owners. They are very socialable. Enjoy it. You and hubby will need to learn the "yorkie shuffle". lol. That's a whole new way of walking-schuffling so you don't take a chance on kicking or stepping on him. I kicked Hot Rod a couple of times that he would stand back from me.

They are fast little boogers! They are called the "zoomies". lol. That is how Hot Rod got his name!

You will get mixed reviews on which food to feed on here. Hot Rod was on Royal Canine when he came home to us. I truly believe that he had an allergy to it because he had very dry itchy skin. A lot of people will tell you that Eukanuba is not a good food choice either. I personally feed Natural Balance Rolls. I have been through lots of others such as Innova, Merrick's, Calfornia Natuaral, Evo, Wellness-just to name a few. I would choose one of the better foods for your baby. This you can get a lot of info on in the Health and Diet forum. I am also sure that someone with much more knowledge on this will come on also.

As for crying at night, is it possible that you can put his crate in your bedroom? As I said, if you are set on crating, do not let him sleep in your bed, you will never be able to go backwards--lol! They have a way of getting what they want and will wrap you around their little paws quicker than anything!

As for hubby getting "fed up", dogs can sense things. I would try to make sure that hubby bonds with him as well. It is important that animals feel loved and accepted otherwise they will be nervous animals-in my opinion. By the way, what is your baby's name? Would love to see pictures of him. I bet he is adorable! I hope some of this helps.
excellent post..

I had to put Tucker in our room, in his crate. He cried for 2 weeks straight and would howl for hours and hours on end during the night, once I moved his crate next to my bed he stopped for the most part, only crying out when he had to potty. By 3.5 months old he was fully sleeping through the night (9pm untill 6am) Tucker was very hard to potty train. At 6 months old he finally got it. You have to be very consistant in any training that you do. Yorkies are very smart and most pick things up quickly but some are very stubborn and require a lot of work (my tucker) Praise and even use to treats. They both go along way with training.
They are also very affection dogs and need lots of attention.. (well tucker does anyways) and he is in my lap whenever Im sitting down. He follows me everywhere and if he does happen to fall asleep on the couch as soon as i get up, he comes to find me. Like the above poster said, you need to do the yorkie shuffle and always be on the look out for a pup between your legs or by your feet. I too have kicked Tucker on several occasions and have felt so bad for doing so.
As far as food goes, I really dont have no advice. I have tried most of the "higher" quality brands of dog foods out there and my dogs either wouldnt eat it,stopped eating it or started having issues while on it. My dogs are on Science Diet natures best. Its not a great food but they like it and eat it and doing well on it and to me that is most important. If you find something your baby will eat, then stay with it.
Welcome to YT and Congrats on the new baby. I cant wait to see pics.
