I have 4 inside and will be adding one more next month. I free feed(my biggest one is over 14 lbs). They really don't eat anymore, I keep their bowl full and then pull it up at 6:00 p.m they quit eating like pigs when they realize it's down for them all the time. my sister feeds hers once a day, she said the same thing as you, so, when we were both at my Moms once, and she was going out, I put food down, they ate like pigs for a bit, but, then quit when they were full. I did prove my point
