I know you are excited about your upcoming litter. Here is a great website with lots of information on breeding and whelping.

Links to the best Breeding & Whelping sites and articles on the net!

What is your female eating now? The most important thing is to have her on a quality dog food. I prefer something like Canidae, Chicken Soup, Solid Gold or Natural Balance. There are many other good foods. Diet is of the utmost importance to ensure a healthy litter. A diet that in not balanced can cause birth defects or cause the puppies to be absorbed. I do not believe in supplementing during pregnancy. You have to be careful during her pregnancy not to expose her to chemicals like flea treatments or medications. After the 4th week of pregnancy it is best to not let her jump too much. Mine will jump on and off the furniture, that is okay as long as they are not jumping too high, but don't put her in a situation where she is continuously jumping up and down like some do if they are confined in a x-pen or behind a gate. Toward the end of her pregnancy try to not do anything to stress her out.

There is so much information in this site. If you have specific questions about breeding and whelping it would be best for you to post in the 'Breeders Section'. We have many knowledgeable breeders on here that will be glad to help you out.

How big is your female and the sire? Best of luck to you.
