The first pic is before surgery. You can see how unseated the left patella is (little circle above the joint- each one is too far to the inside of the leg) and the right is pretty bad as well, although palpations didn't indicate a problem. The funny thing is that he had been limping on his right leg since I scheduled surgery, and when we put him on the floor in front of the surgeon he was limping on the right, so I guess it just could have started being a problem?
Anyway, we are just sitting around still. Ranger got up and repositioned himself in his crate, and has gone back to sleep. I hope he doesn't stop eating like Hot Rod and Tatum, that would be soooo uncharacteristic of him and I would really worry. He usually gets raw in the evenings and kibble in the AM, but I am going to keep him on raw throughout his recovery as it is his TOTAL favorite!!!!!!!!! |
Hey girl, did you mean that he was limping on his LEFT leg since you scheduled the surgery? And then he started limping on his right at the surgeon's office? Poor little thing

Tatum always limped on her left leg. Well, actually, she would limp on both, but her limp on the left leg was always way worse. That leg is the one that she would actually hold completely up off the ground when running.
I kept reminding myself over and over again to get Tatum's x-rays and then once I went there to pick her up and I saw her, I totally forgot just because I was so focused on her I guess. I will try to remember when we go back on Monday to get them. Her x-rays looked SO terrible

Her little patella's (especially on that left knee) were TOTALLY out of socket and out of place. It broke my heart. But then of course the after surgery x-rays looked great

I just HOPE that those pins are still in place and aren't broken...I will just DIE if they are. Being that she is using both legs now though and without a limp, hopefully everything is as it should be
I too hope that little Ranger doesn't stop eating...I'm sure that he will do just fine!

I'm 99% sure that Tatum would never refuse boiled chicken, lol (she hasn't yet)...but she just absolutely will not TOUCH her kibble. In fact, ya know what, I just may have hubby go and pick her up a bag of NV Raw on his way home from work today. She loves raw and I did used to have her on it, but took her off of it completely when I started her on NB. If she would eat the raw though, which she PROBABLY will (I just can't see her refusing that

but I guess you never know with the Tator Bug...lol) then that will make me feel alot better. At least it's a great food and has everything in it that she needs.
