Sophie was spayed on March 10th. Her first evening home she slept most of the time. She (Vet recommendation) got double dose of her pain meds. Then regular dose each night before bed until she felt better. She got it the second night as most of the day she just slept and didn't move around too much. The third day she was out chasing the cats and being herself. I didn't give pain meds that night thinking she was fine, but she woke up about Midnight and I could tell she was uncomfortable. Gave her some meds and she went right back to sleep. Next day she was fine and back to normal from there. She did urinate a lot more, so all the hard work at potty training went out the window. May want to look at taking her to pee every 1 to 1.5 hours again (once she gets over the sleepy day or two). This did come around, but she did slip back on her potty training a bit and we are back to square 4 out of 6 and slowly working our way back up. Stitches came out two weeks later and all was well. I did opt for all the pre-testing. I also assured that my Vet monitored heart rate, BP and H2O, which she did. I also made sure she used Iso for her anesthesia. She was pre tested for allergy to anesthesia and all types of enzyme levels too. In the end her spay went from $185 to $428 but my piece of mind was priceless! Oh, she also had 4 teeth pulled. Those were the only baby teeth remaining. Good luck, she'll do just fine!
