What if she had her mall puppy cleared by a vet as being in good health after a 2 week waiting period. I know we are not supposed to support the puppymills by buying at pet stores. But there are lots of folks here with pet store puppies, that take excellent care of them, and have made them like family members. I personally think if they are all gone all day, the puppies would be better off with company. I always feel so sorry for a puppy that has to stay alone for 8-10 hours a day.
What I am saying, is can you get past the big mistake she made, and maybe still see your way to letting her have the puppy? I don't think just because she got this other one she is going to be a bad pet parent. Besides there is the "peace in the family" issue too. I would not want to create such hard feeling with family if it could be avoided.
I guess I am alone in this, but I just think there is still a way to make it all work. I know you want to keep your puppy safe, but if you keep them apart for a couple of weeks and the mall puppy gets the clean bill of health, what is it going to hurt? I mean, is it really that different from your son bringing a rescue of uncertain background into the home with your male yorkie and a surprise litter of puppies happening? Things don't always work out the way we would choose --but if you can make it all work out, keep the puppies safe, and keep the family on good terms, I say try! |
