The problem is a LOT of the dogs involved with these puppymill/brokers do wind up in shelters or worse. If you look at many of the rescues, they are older females who have had most of the life bred right out of them. Some have breeding females that have never been outside a cage, never ran in a yard or park. Never had a human play with them. How sad is that?

I know it seems like the thing to do is rescue as many as possible from someone like that. But if you give her money, it is just enabling her to continue in the same manner. Honestly, I don't know, if I was faced with one sweet face I could save after seeing bad conditions, I might do the same thing. I know it is not the right way to go about it though. We have to stop encouraging puppymills with our money. But no way can I say I would not have done the same thing if I was in your shoes. When you love a puppy on site, sometimes logic goes right out the window. So, I am split. I know what a person should do, just not sure I could walk away without giving one little puppy a better life either. So for me, I just make sure I do not go look until I am sure the breeder is not a mill or broker. I have had to ban myself from even looking in the window of the mall pet shop too.
