I think it does have alot to do with how you raise the dog(and the kids!)-maybe it would be best to get a pup to be sure. Also we purposely sought out a larger yorkie-less fragile-accidents can happen!!! We have never had any problems though, Mika is 8lb-ish and our kids are 11/8/3/18 months, we got Mika almost a year ago when she was just a pup and our kids were a year younger and no-one (including Mika) has ever been hurt in any way!
