I keep a can of Esbilac handy just in case. I've only used it once or twice to get sucking reflex to kick in and then switched 'em right over to mama. It's easier to that with a bottle in hand when they are having a tough time (or bad sense of direction) latching on. You can get that everywhere and the momma's are great at finishing off the open can.
I also wonder what the knife is for? I am sure I would end up cutting my stupid self on a knife laying around...I am usually sleep deprived during whelping.
