It is said that too much protein can cause liver and kidney cause.
I do not believe that has been proven but if a dog does have liver or kidney problems already, the protein needs to be watched.

There are different opinions on this. Some say the more protein the better and others say don't go too high.

I would consider something like Evo a high protein food (at 42%) and a food like Innova lower to moderate (I think it's about 24%).
