I use a mustache trimmer, it's small and the buzzing isn't very loud. I start with them in their harness and with a leash on and DH helps to hold them. I let them smell it and rub in on their body and work my way to their ears. I rub it on the front and back of both ears. Once they'll sit still for this, I turn it on and repeat all the steps again. Once they'll sit still for this, I take a quick short stroke and if they start to get freaked out, I start all over again. It may take a couple of sessions to get both ears done. Always be aware of where their limit is you don't want to push them to the point of a meltdown. You want to stop during a 'good' behavior time. And lots of small baby steps in the beginning followed immediately by a treat and praise. I can do Gracie Ruth and Yogi now without DH holding them.
