Default 10week old and confused

Hello,
This is my first toime on ehre and my first Yorkie. I bought a Male yorkie over the weekend and he was never house broken, they allowed thier dogs to run the house free without any proper potty training.

Two days in potty training: Doggie litter box training.
When I take him out of his bed crate in the morning I immediatly take him to his small doggie litter box lined with a puppy pad. He keeps jumping out. and I keep putting him back in. We do this for about 10 minutes and then I put him back into his small crate, and do it again, and again, but with no results.
Here is where I'm confused:
I was told to keep doing this and if he will not uninate to put him back into a small crate (not his bed crate) and do not alllow him run around the house until he uninates.
However, if I do this we will never bond because he would be spending all his time in his small crate.

What do I do????

Other things that I'm doing:
I have a medium crate that I use for bedding at night. I put treats in thier and make it a good thing. He seems okay with it at ight, cries 15 minutes the first night and only 5 minutes the second night.

I use a small crate for discipline when he's not pottying.

How do I potty train him, but still spend time with him?

Thank you for any, any, any advice.
Angie
