I'm currently in community college right now, not 100% sure of what I want to be. But I figure getting a college degree is a good thing!
Here's my thing... I would like to move out of state. I currently live in Maryland, as does all of my family, so it would be tough but I really want to. I'm fairly close to all of my family and we have decent relationships. My family all have the biggest, kindest hearts in the entire world but well... you can say they're all a little messed up! (What family isn't it, though?) They're big partyers, some into drugs, a lot of drinking, a lot of stuff. I'm a pretty mature 19 year old (and I mean that in the least cocky way possible) and I've just never been into what other 19 year olds are into. I've honestly never done drugs, I'm not into drinking, I don't smoke. And I just need a change and to get away from everyone elses problems.
My little 6 year old brother passed away in 2006 and it's basically torn up this family a lot. Obviously. It's been really rough. He was my everything. But I feel like I'm at that point in my life where I really need to move on and begin my OWN life. But I'm not gonna lie - it scares the sh*t out of me at the same time.
Currently, I'm looking into South Carolina. I've visited there now about 4 times. Mostly the Bluffton/Beaufort area but also Charleston and a few other areas. I just love it. I love the whole vibe there. I could see myself living there and was considering trying to get into a college there after completing my Associates degree here in Maryland.
I mean, I'm the kind of person who adjusts easily. I started at a brand new high school my freshmen year in another town (in Maryland) and made friends. Then my junior year I moved back in with my mom and completed the last two years of high school at another new school.
So, my original question, who moved away from their hometown and everything they've known and would you do it again? Do you regret it or was it a good thing?
Also, who lives in South Carolina and can tell me maybe a little more about it? I know it's not the greatest place to find a job but where is now a days? Do you enjoy living there?
Sorry to make this semi-long post on a Yorkie forum but I just wanted opinions.
