Outside and car seem to do the trick.
My Chester knows the sound of my horn when I lock my car door when I get home. He will go paw at the door and DF will open the sliding glass door so he can go on the balcony and watch me. He'll stick his head through the slats and in a high pitched voice I'll say, "Hi Chessie!" He'll run to the front door barking and yipping running circles, then back out to the balcony. (It's a bit of a walk.) Then I'll say, again in a high pitched voice, "Chessie!! Did you miss your momma?" Same thing, right to the front door yipping and barking and running around like a nut. When I get inside, DF will open the door and Chester will come running down the long hallway faster than a speeding bullet and run a circle around me and then run back inside the apt, then come back out and repeat until I get inside. I love him!
