I took my Rocky and Sammie to the vet today to have AI performed... this is Sammie's 4th heat and I've never seen them tie... I sit with them all the time trying to "help them along". Rocky is experienced.. he's 7 1/2 years old.
I've never experienced the AI procedure before .... kind of a let down... all that's involved is a gloved hand, a syringe and a long tube.
I thought it
would be more scientific.
The most exciting part was looking in the microscope at a sample of Rocky's sperm... that was cool!! Oh... and the funny thing is... you do have to raise the female's butt up in the air for about 3 to 4 minutes after the procedure!
