You do not want the coat to change too early. You should begin to see the coat "breaking blue" at the shoulders and along the topline. The closer to a year when it breaks the more likely they will hold their color as a adult. Also is the gold coming in on the head? Is it breaking to that almost white silvery color? The lighter the head and earlier the blue breaks, the lighter the dog will be as an adult. Most yorkies take almost two years to fully mature their coat
