Ha, that's hilarious. Don't give up. Initially, our Yorkie started bonding with me only because I was the one walking him and feeding him and playing with him the most.
My wife, whose dog it was, got jealous, so she insisted on sleeping with him and cuddling with him on the couch whenever she was home. It worked out great. He now goes to her for nurturing and me for play time. He is truly both of our dogs.
