We put down a oak wood "look" laminate by Armstrong almost 4 years ago and have been pleased. We have one placed that slightly buckled early on due to a water spill, so we have learned to keep something under that water bowls.
We did put down a small cut piece of linolium down in front the back door where they run in and out of the doggie door due to some sliding issues and we have a large 8 x 10 run in the middle of the living room.
We had ours installed by a small local company and selected them as we liked the variety of wood looks they offered versus Lowes/Home Depot.
My aunt put down the "engineered" wood flooring and they did it themselves and it was alot of work to put in.....but when they finished it looked beautiful....more "real".
