That is the misconcepting on this...and this is also a great question...

If a parcel is sent as a gift a money value still needs to go on the customs slip, and customs decides that if it is over the maybe 20.00 amount then you pay duty on the parcel or you cannot have it.. simple as that.. so although I did not sign up.. I am willing to help anyone that gets a Canadian.. for customs care little about whether it is a gift or no.. always about the money.. and the price of the contents in the parcel...
