Just an idea that might help. Put large pillows that are really plush or you can use old couch pollows on the floor right in front of the couch so if she decides to jump and you can't get to her, she would fall on to the pillow. You could probably just get some used ones from the thrift store or a friend's unwanted old couch.
I think the ex-pen idea is a good one. She will have lots of space to move around and still be safe.
