We have laminate, and my husband has installed it for us and many other family and friends. He does construction on the side. It hold up great. (Hardwood is different)It's real, and I don't know anything about how it hold up. I have the snap and lock kind. It is easy to clean, use ammonia,or white vinegar. My guys never pee on it...they only pee on rugs...lol. Now we're potty trained, but the only time I notice the floor to be slippery,is when I am distributing treats to my three. Pongo gets his first, and he takes it upstairs and always hides it for later, but Aiden who I give it to second, runs in place until he finally gets traction and chases Pongo...so funny. If I had it my way I'd have laminate through the whole house. Easy to clean, and throw rugs can be interchanged for holidays and certain color schemes. Good Luck, you won't be sorry. Mu husband actually put one right over my dads old rug. They are what is considered a "floating floor",so they hide alot of imperfections.
