Sorry to hear about your boys. I had a friend years ago that went through this with her Maltese. She went to a neurologist and was told that 99% of the time with these little guys they injure themselves when you don't see it. It only takes a second and a tiny spine can take a big hit. It doesn't sound too bad, as all the cases I've ever heard the dog was paralyzed almost immediately after the injury, so possibly the steroid will be enough to heal him. I would definitely get a second opinion because these things are so funny and it might be something else. Is he walking ok? If so I wouldn't be too worried now. Poor little guy, the tiny ones get hurt so easily.
