Sammy was bitten by another dog last week

; he has a wound near his right eye. I took him to the vet, the Vet shave some of his hair off to clean the area, and then they put in one stitch at the wound. They didn't give me any instruction on after-surgery-care. Can anyone tell me how do I tell if the wound around the suture is healing properly?
He has a large scab around and underneath the suture, it looks like it's gotten much bigger now than one week ago. There seem to be some yellowish crust forming on the outer rim of the brown scab, so I'm not too sure if that's a sign of infection or if the crust is dried up antibiotic ointment. There is no foul odor on the wound.
He's on antibiotics, both ointment and oral medication. I wipe his wound with sterile gauze and chlorhexiderm solution twice a day before applying the antibiotic ointment. When I am cleaning and applying the ointment, it doesn't seem to hurt him. He's also wearing an E colar. He is still very playful and active, and eating normally.
Please tell me your experience with a wound with suture, and how do they look normally when it's healing? Can a dog get an infection even if they're on antibotics?
Any help will be greatly appreicated! Thank You!
