Well....first of all, here is what to expect in the next couple weeks: You'll cry, your heart will fall in the pit of your stomach, you'll follow her in every room she goes, you'll hit the ceiling when she does something crazy, you will ache the first time she gets hurt/scared, and if she ever does fall, you will rush her to the emergency room begging to see the vet--sure she is going to die, just to have the doctor say she just has a bump on her head. What I'm getting at by all of this is that the feelings you have right now are perfectly normal.
That being said, I imagine you are doing everything and more that you can do to protect her. I suggest a high pitched "Eeeeekk!" noise to really get her attention when you need her to stop what she is doing. That seems to work with my baby. (She'll probably turn to you and cock her head to one side as if to say "What they heck was that?") Other than that, just continue being the good mother I am sure you are already. After awhile, many of your fears will go away. Keep us updated on your new baby! |
