I am wondering what most of you prefer for puppies or dogs who don't have full run of the house?

Bailey is currently gated into the whole kitchen/nook, which is quite a large area. Even with all that room she often seems like she wants out, but to me it's too much room because she has accidents in different parts of the room. I was thinking I should get some larger gates so I can block her off at the island, which would also remove the chance of her picking up dangerous foods dropped while cooking (and allow my cat to get by into the living room, which she currently can't).

But maybe I should confine her even more and just get an exercise pen? I would love to get one with a bottom to it so I can put her in the living room when I'm in there and she can't go on the carpet.

I was just curious how many on here use each method and why you prefer it.
