You can also get an enzyme toothpaste from your vet, I think the brand I use is C.E.T. (mine like chicken flavored). It stays in their mouth and helps to kill the bacteria. I put it on a "finger brush" (Petco has them) and let them take a taste, then just gently lift the side of the upper lip and slide it in. They lick and you brush. I have two babies around 6 months and they don't mind this at all. Good luck.
