| It's Your Pup! Apple was 5 months old, yesterday...she completed her puppy shots on her 4th month birthday...The vet wants to do the rabies @ 5 months, but I'm not having it...It's true you will have to be sure she doesn't bite anyone, but is she around any animals that have rabies, does she bite, is she out at night, when there might be bats out? I don't let Apple out at night, and she's never been exposed to anything that might have rabies, so I'm waiting 'till she's 6 months old...And if she doesn't weigh at least 4 lbs., I'll probably wait longer...I hope I don't get bombed w/negative posts, but I'm old school, where you didn't vaccinate for rabies 'till after they were 6 months old...And don't be afraid to tell the Vet whatever you are comfortable with...One nice thing about living on the planet as long as I have, is I don't let people tell me what I want to do...I gather all the information I can, then I make a "gut level" decision, based on that information....All the best to you with "your" decision... Love, Maggie & Apple xoxoxo |
