I've lived all over, and never suffered from allergies till I moved to Arizona, it use to be the best place for allergies, but two factors have changed all that. First problem is that we are planting more vegetation imported from other states, it no longer "looks" like the desert, in many communities, but the second and major reason is the dry air itself, makes it so easy for the pollen to blow around. If the air is more humid, pollen tends to land on plants and sticks, thus filtering out much of the pollen from the air, but in dry climates the pollens stays in the air, and it's harder to escape, a nice breezy day is especially bad.
