Animal Smiley 049 New overly protective mom

Hello everyone! I'm new to YT and a fairly new mom of a beautiful yorkie baby boy named Disney. He is a year and 5 months and I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. Disney is by far the best baby I have had, not that i'm biased. But, I'm having a bit of an issue with his bringing the out doors in, ie leaves, grass, tiny sticks. The outdoors gets stuck in his hair and causes mats. I'm wondering if a trim would help with that? I brush him before we go to bed and again when we get up and place a new top knot every morning. He has never had his hair cut besides his bangs just so he doesn't run into things while he's playing. I live in Central Illinois and talked to my vet about groomers in the area. Out of the large selection there is, they only recommended 3. This has been a huge source of anxiety in our house because I don't want to drop him off and leave him. He has never been anywhere without me or his nana and papa (which he goes to for daycare while I'm at work). I'm afraid it will be an overly stressful experience for him. SO... long story short... anyone have any suggestions for me?
