Besides the bloodwork, make sure they do a pre op EKG before Penny is sedated. Also, make sure they have an IV catheter in during the surgery. That way, if there are any complications, they can deal with them instantly.

Do you know if your vet uses isoflurane or sevoflurane gas?

Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to of your vet beforehand. I'm sure Penny will be just fine.
