This has happened to be over 2 years now and people are still opening up accounts in my name even though I have put out alerts.It is horrible and my credit is now down the drain. I did file a police report the same day that it happened and I am still getting calls for creditors trying to collect money for me. I have learned a very pricey lesson and am still paying for it. Someone opened a cell phone account in my name and now they cell phone company is saying that I know the person that opened it, which I don't they are trying to collect $2,000 from me and my parents have even had to hire an attorney. There were 3 more accounts opened in my name just last year that we are trying to fix but so far little luck. It is a huge mess.
