Yorkie weight and health Having trouble with my first ever post so I hope this doesn't post twice. Anyway, I am mommy to my first Yorkie. His name is ROO. I went with a friend to pick up a puppy and fell in love with him. I was ignorant to the weight thing and didn't even realize that the fad was to get a little one. I didn't even ask anything about weight. He was 2.5 lbs at 12 weeks old. Now he is 6 months old and 3.5 lbs. After reading some, I am concerned that he is too small and that I should be worried about his bones. He sails off the couch after jumping about an extra foot up in the air and turning around airborne and landing. He is like a bouncing ball. He isn't sickly at all. Do I need to be worried about this jumping. Is he going to break a bone? He goes everywhere and runs in the yard until I am out of breath. Seems like he is underweight from what I am reading but he appears overly healthy. Do I need to try to protect him from jumping off the sofa?? I don't know how I will but I can try. Should I be concerned? |
