This is just my opinion. If you give up your rights to photos, that is exactly what you get.....loss of your rights to your own photos. I never enter my adorable pups in contests because the small print always (that I have noticed) says you give up all your rights to the photo. Your dog's (or baby's) photo could become famous and you would have no rights to it. You could possibly be sued for using it yourself after you give up the rights to it. Also, if someone requests photos for their use, check them out first. You can always type in their username under Google and see what comes up. Look for a bridge before you try jumping the creek.
