Hi, You have to be careful putting anything topical as they lick themselves and can have an alergic reaction, Vasiline would help but it plugs the pores possibly preventing it to heal, when My yorkie had an ulcererd anal gland I would dip a cotton pad w/ witch hazel to keep bacteria and help soothe that area, also you can try bagbalm as a safe topical they use it for animals teets when they are dry or cracking
