Better safe than sorry, taking them to the vet is always best if you're not sure what's going on, and whenever there's blood it's a doubly good idea
I did forget to mention that I have to mix the pumpkin with some yogurt or cottage cheese, then they scarf it up
I give mine plain lowfat yogurt every night for dinner, the bacteria in it seems to keep them nice and regular
