If the chicken and rice are making up more than 10% of his diet- then he needs more than just EVO to supplement- he will need proper vitamins/minerals/calcium/phosphorus supplementing because you are home cooking. Even though you are adding EVO- it will not make up for what he needs.

Is he a healthy 12 lbs? Some yorkies are just big- or is he overweight? If you are worried that he is overweight I would cut out the chicken/rice and go strickly with a quality kibble- perhaps occasionally putting some chopped up chicken on his food for a treat.

You can get a low calorie dog food but you don't really need to do that- just follow the guidelines on the back of the bag and perhaps feed him slightly less than what is suggested.... and walk walk walk- he should drop the extra pounds no problem.
